As many as 20 or more titles in all will be available on demand via cable and satellite. Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance, will be the first anime film made available on demand before Funimation releases the extended Evangelion 2.22 version on DVD and Bluray in March.

The site also says that the English and Japanese voice actresses of Asuka, Tiffany Grant and Yuko Miyamura, will be at the Australian premiere of Evangelion 2.0 at the Dendy Newtown in Sydney on Thursday August 5th at 6:30pm.

The weekend starts on Friday, May 21st to Sunday, May 23rd. 1.0 will be screened on the 21st at 6:30pm while 2.0 will be screened right afterwards at 8:45pm. Other movies that will also be screened include Chocolate Underground, K20: The Fiend with Twenty Faces, Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva, Stormy Night, and Welcome to the Space Show. Joint tickets can be purchased at a lower price.

Forum member Riotgear found the thread about Reel Anime ’09 at the Madman forums. In particular Slykura, Madman staff, says this: Just to confirm. Yes it’s on hold. There are some silly reasons for it that I can’t delve into but we are hopeful in bringing it back in 2010!. So it looks like Reel Anime won’t be running for 2009 but should be back in 2010.

The Century Centre Cinema doesn’t have the movie listed on their website but the Music Box Theatre does have it listed as well as the opening date on October 23rd. It’s kind of funny to note that the poster they chose to put up is the fake fan-made Live Action Evangelion Movie poster that features Elijah Wood as Shinji.

Anime Club. Reservations can be made through jiccrsvpsummer09@embjapan.org and are limited to 2 seats per request. The auditorium is at the Japanese Embassy, located at the Lafayette Center III (Lower Level), 1155 21st Street NW, in Washington D.C. The film will be shown in the original Japanese audio with English subtitles. The live action Death Note film “The Last Name” will also have a free screening on August 28th at 6:30 p.m.

Following the free screening at the JICC, Evangelion 1.0 will also be shown at Baltimore’s Hoff Theater from September 11th to the 17th with multiple shows each day. The film will be shown with Funimation’s English dub. See the Hoff Theater calendar for show times and ticket prices.

It seems they’re still on the fence about the screening because of the movie doesn’t seem to be doing that well in L.A. If anyone is interested in watching the Japanese audio/English subtitled version of Evangelion 1.0, You Are (Not) Alone, at the Music Box Theatre this August, contact them and inquire/show you’re interest. BTW, this theater is Awsome, I saw the Cowboy Bebop movie there when it did its limited run a few years back. Its an old-school theater with a pipe organ and 20s style architecture, just being there makes a film seem more special.

Everyone in the Chicago area should go. As of the writing of this post, the Music Box Theatre website doesn’t have Evangelion 1.0 listed, but they have advance tickets available for some of their upcoming movies on their showtimes page.

Although there’s nothing known about what will be different from this version and the 1.0/1.01/1.11 versions, there is a hint from NTV that says “If you watch until the very end, you will definitely notice something different.” So it’s possible that the 2.0 preview has been updated. Don’t be surprised to see a 1.0-TV version of Evangelion 1.0 floating around in a few days.

Update 7/3: Looks like the only thing that was different was the preview for 2.0, which was updated to reflect what was actually used in the new film.

All but 7 of the cities are in Canada. As mentioned previously, Houston and Seattle will see screenings as well as Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Diego, Riverside, and Boston.
