I wonder how many missed it. It seems quite obvious once pointed out. At the risk of looking into it too much I wonder if it’s a visual suggestion of how Misato feels towards Shinji. Her feelings become quite clear during EoE. I’m sure no one here would deny that she’s slightly screwy.
