I think it's just the pose. The neck looks like it's pulled back.

Dunno, it does look like something out of Armoured Core though don't it.

Another thought that came to mind is the two Spike Hands are special equipment... that could be used to pierce the two cores of Israfel at once jousting-style, after Eva-01 and 02 fail to defeat it the first time around.

You can see a light-ish triangular shape on the right in the vicinity of the leg. Might be one of the knee doohickeys, if the knee is lifted up.

Looks like Eva-05 is running along some kind of track in the ceiling or ... something.

It could just be temporary equipment.
Either way, to me it seems to be specialized for underground use. That would explain those previously mentioned pressure sensors and the lights on it's shoulders. And those lances are probably especially useful in tight spaces.

I decided to modify that fan mockup of EVA-06 a bit. After watching the preview one last time, it occurred to me that whoever it was that drew it, got it a bit wrong.

I ligthed up one of the DVD caps, and looks like 05's under arms are more EVA like then the robotic style in the fanart. The legs or if they now are legs are still hard to makeout due to the hunched pose.

After much toil to make out crap in that image, here's something:



Not perfect or anything, but something. Pretty sure those are legs in there, and both knees are bent. Additionally, far as I can tell, the fan artist is right about those nonsensical arms.

Also, she's not hunched; her back is quite straight, far as I can tell.
