Evangelion 2.0 TV Version – TV Spot

A short 15 second TV commercial aired for the upcoming Evangelion 2.0, You can (not) advance broadcast on NTV this August 26th. The commercial itself doesn’t show anything new, but it’s somewhat exciting to see something at this point, even if it’s about 2.0.

New GAINAX Anime: Dantalian no Shoka

Nothing new in the Evangelion front since the discovery that Evangelion: 3.0/Q may be further behind schedule than most anticipated as well as Hideaki Anno telling fans to “please be patient”. So there’s going to be a short update about our friends over at GAINAX.

Their new upcoming show this July Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian (ダンタリアンの書架) released a promotional video, giving us a first look at the series.

The premise revolves around Hugh Anthony Disward, who finds a library in the mansion he has inherited, and a girl Dalian who has access to the prohibited books of the demons. It is directed by Yutaka Uemura, who has previously worked with Mahoromatic and Gurren Lagann, and is expected to be 13 episodes. This fantasy title contrasts pretty heavily with GAINAX’s previous show, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. Here’s hoping for some upcoming news about Evangelion.

Funimation Evangelion 2.22 “HD” Clip

Funimation’s youtube channel has a new HD clip of their Evangelion 2.22 release, slated for a March 29th release date. This clip is almost 5 minutes long and consists of the battle against the 7th Angel. Although it says this is an “HD Clip”, the only available resolutions (at the time of this post) are 240p and 360p. At least we get to hear some more of the English dub.

Funimation’s Evangelion 2.0 Trailer on Hulu

Funimation’s Evangelion 2.0 movie trailer is up on Hulu.com, so that means it’s region restricted. It’s got some spoilers in it, there’s no dialogue (although Mari makes a sound), the choice of music is a little hit/miss, and it feels like the trailer got cut off at the end. At the end, it says “Coming Winter 2011″, so I assume that will be the DVD/BD release and not the theatrical run which starts in January of next year. Or, maybe they’re referring to January 2011 as “Winter 2011″.

GAINAX’s Panty and Stocking Trailer Online (Updated)

The upcoming anime by GAINAX, “Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt“, has a trailer posted online.

The show revolves around 2 angels (for real) named Panty and Stocking (no joke) that were kicked out of heaven for bad behavior under the pretext of ghost hunting. The show will premiere on October 1st and will air on numerous TV stations in Japan.

Originally mistaken for the show that is to be based on the Dantalian no Shoka light novel, which is set in 20th century Britain, it was later clarified that these are, in fact, two different shows. Panty and Stocking will be directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, famous for Gurren Lagann and Dead Leaves, with character designs by Atsushi Nishigori, who also did the designs in Gurren Lagann.

Official Evangelion 2.22 Promo Released

The Official Evangelion website released the Evangelion 2.22 promo video which was previous put on the internet via a cellphone video. The official website links to videos supplied by the Bandai channel, so unless you’re on an IP that’s in Japan, you won’t be able to see them. But Yahoo has a silverlight version on their Eva 2.22 page. If you don’t have silverlight, you can always look at the page source to get the MMS file. If that still doesn’t work for you, we’ve got an XviD/PCM copy of it that you can download here.

There’s nothing new compared to the one we saw at the Tokyo Anime Fair, this one just looks better.

Evangelion 2.22 Promotional Video at TAF

As a quick update to the Eva-Extra 06 and Tokyo Anime Fair, the Promotional Video shown at TAF for Evangelion 2.22 has made its way onto the internet. Be warned that there’s minor spoilers in the PV.

Eva 2.22 and Eva Extra-06 News

According to the Min Nano EvaFan blog, the recently released Eva Extra 06 has stated that Evangelion 2.22 will have a runtime of 111 minutes and 49 seconds compared to the 108 minute runtime of Evangelion 2.0.

Eva-Extra 07 has also been announced to be released on 5/26/2010, the same day that 2.22 is out in Japan.

Some of the new additions to the DVD/Blu-Ray include Asuka having a new line (possibly more, but only one has been pointed out so far), the Eva-03 preparation and battle being more drawn out, as well as the battle with Mari and Eva-02 being updated in terms of quality.

The Tokyo International Anime Fair included information on the bonus content for the DVD/Blu-Ray release, which includes:

so far it sounds pretty similar to the 1.11 release, it seems like “Omit Scene” is a new feature.

Also worth noticing is there’s an upcoming a promotional video clip featuring the piece “Please Give Me Wings” from the climatic scene of the film, but it’s not publicly released yet. It will probably be shown at Tokyo International Anime Fair. More information about such will be posted when it’s available.

Evangelion Pachinko Exhibit in Tokyo

The newest and much hyped Evangelion pachinko game, “Die Spur der SEELE” (Path of the Soul), was released today and is currently being exhibited in Tokyo. The lobby has 4 life-sized plugsuit clad Rei Ayanami’s and a Lance of Longinus and a large video projection of various scenes from the new Evangelion movies set to “Komm Susser Tod”. You can preview the game at the exhibit as well as buy some souvenirs.

The promotional video shows a lot of scenes from Evangelion 2.0, You can (not) advance, redone in CG specifically for the pachinko game, including battles against the 3rd and 9th Angels.

The official website for Evangelion 1.0: You are (not) alone by Funimation is now online. The front page features a clip of the first 9 minutes (dubbed) along with Anno’s statement of what he wanted to do with Rebuild back in 2007. Also included on the website is standard character information, some wallpaper downloads, and a few dub clips of the film.

Funimation has released a trailer for Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0. It has people speaking English in it. It also has stock trailer music that you’ll never hear in Evangelion. If that interests you, you can find it at the following location.

Evangelion 2.0 Trailer #3

We get a sneak peak at the 3rd (and presumably final) trailer for the second Rebuild of Evangelion movie. Nothing exceptional about this one; we get to see more Asuka, Evangelions fighting, some more Mari, the familiar Shinji sitting in a train car, and something that might be the “clock angel”. So far, we’ve only got a crappy cell-phone camera of it, but expect an HQ version on the Bandai Channel soon.

Evangelion: 1.0 Dub showing in 70+ Theaters

YANA is getting a nice limited release in North America. All but 7 of the cities are in Canada. As mentioned previously, Houston and Seattle will see screenings as well as Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Diego, Riverside, and Boston. All the rest are being shown across Canada on September 30. Info on dates and theaters is here. Another item of note is that Funimation is streaming the dub trailer on their Evangelion site.
