Not news but this is a neat little video found on the internet.

Japan’s NTV has a weekend movie slot called “Friday Road Show” (金曜ロードショー) that usually have different animated intro/openings. Here is one featuring the Angels from the new Evangelion movies (and Rei). On August 26, the Friday Road Show broadcasted a TV version of Evangelion 2.0 as well as 1.01 back in 2009.

Evangelion Q: Autumn 2012

So the TV edition of 2.0 aired, for those who caught it on KeyHole TV or something similar, we were treated to a brand new preview for Q. We saw Asuka (with eyepatch) flying around in her Evangelion Unit-02. But best of all, the announcement that Q will be next fall, 2012. Here’s some screenshots of the preview:

Evangelion 2.0 TV Broadcast

On Friday, August 26, NTV will broadcast a TV version of Evangelion 2.0, You can (not) advance, at 9pm. There was a TV broadcast of Evangelion 1.0 a while after its debut in theatres that didn’t have anything noticeably different from the 1.01 DVD release except for the preview. Like the 1.01 announcement, we’re given no indication of what changes the TV version will have in store for 2.0 and there was a short mention to make sure to watch “until the end”, but there may not be anything different at all. Nevertheless, I’m sure by August 26 we’ll see various rips of Evangelion 2.0 TV Edition. Here’s to hoping we at least get an updated preview.

Evangelion 2.22 Screening at Anime Boston

The Anime Boston schedule has a screening for Evangelion 2.22, You Can (Not) Advance, on Saturday, April 23rd at 12:15pm in the Hynes Convention Center, Video 210 HD Room. The screening will be followed by a panel with guests of honor and English cast Spike Spencer (Shinji Ikari), Brina Palencia (Rei Ayanami), Trina Nishimura (Mari Makinami Illustrious), and J. Michael Tatum (Ryoji Kaji) at 3:00pm in room #302/304 and an autograph session in room #308 starting at 4:30pm. Evangelion 2.22 at C2E2 with Special Guest Spike Spencer

Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) will be hosting screenings of Evangelion 1.11 (Sat. 3/19) and Evangelion 2.22 (Sun. 3/20), both introduced by Shinji Ikari’s English language voice actor, Spike Spencer. Spencer will also present a Voice Actor Workshop on the 19th, conduct a Q&A after the 2.22 screening, and be available for autograph signings throughout the weekend. C2E2 will provide a panel on Spencer’s work on Fri. 3/18.

Evangelion 2.0 Screenings in Southern California

Last month the U.S. Evangelion 2.0 theatrical run’s schedule was posted but a few venues in San Diego were TBA. The Ultra Star Cinemas showtimes have been announced at their website and it includes a few more theatres that weren’t part of the original announcement. Evangelion 2.0 will have one-time-screening at 5 Ultra Star theatres throughout Southern California on January 20th at 8pm.

Evangelion 2.0 Theatre tickets giveaway

Similar to what happened for the Evangelion 1.0 theatre run over a year ago, Eleven Arts, Inc. has asked Anime News Network to give away up to 245 tickets to Evangelion 2.0, You Can (Not) Advance, screenings across theatres in Canada. There will be 5 available tickets per theatre for a screening on January 20th, 2011. Go to Anime News Network’s sign-up page to enter the contest. Winners will be announces around January 11th.

Evangelion 1.11 and 2.22 on Italy’s Rai 4

Italy’s state run TV station, Rai 4, will be airing Evangelion 1.11 and 2.22 in late December and early January as part of their anime film line-up. In Decemeber, 1.11 will air on the 23rd (Thursday) at 23:00 and 2.22 will air on the 30th (Thursday) at 23:10. In January, the 2 will air closer together with 1.11 on New Year’s day (Saturday) at 9:45 in the morning and 2.22 on January 2nd (Sunday) also at 9:45 in the morning. Both movies will air with the Italian dub. Other anime movies airing on Rai 4 include Akira, Millennium Actress, The Sky Crawlers, and Sword of the Stranger.

Cinema Asia Releasing, Eleven Arts and FUNimation Entertainment have released a few Evangelion 2.0, You Can (Not) Advance, screening dates for the U.S. starting from January 19th. There are still dates that are TBA. Most of the runs are only a couple of days but some theatres will be screening for a week or more. There are also a few theatres that will screen Evangelion 1.0, You Are (Not) Alone, prior to the 2.0 screening.

Cineplex with 1 day Evangelion 2.0 Screening in Canada

On January 20th, 2011, Cineplex theatres will be having a 1 day screening of Evangelion 2.0, You Can (Not) Advance, across Canada. Find a theatre near you then go to their Evangelion 2.0 movie page to book advance tickets online (make sure to select January 20th). It looks like ticket prices vary from theatre to theatre, but most of the showtimes seem to be at 7:00pm.

The length of the movie is listed at 1 hour, 49 minutes, which matches the run-time of the actual 2.0 movie (as opposed to the 2.22 video release on DVD and BluRay), no word on the kind of print, though. This is good news, let’s hope the U.S. gets a similar announcement soon.

Evangelion 2.0 at Leeds International Film Festival

Evangelion 2.0 will be screening at the 24th Leeds International Film Festival (LIFF) at Leeds, West Yorkshire, on Friday, November 19th and Sunday, November 21st. The Friday screening will be at the Leeds Town Hall at 6:30pm and the Sunday screening will be at the Hyde Park Picture House at 1:45pm. Ticket prices will be £6.50 and can be purchased online.

The Leeds International Film Festival is the largest film festival in England outside of London. The film festival is divided into feature length films, documentaries, experimental cinema, short films, and horror/anime/manga. Among other anime screened at the festival (on the same days as Evangelion) include Gintama the Movie, One Piece – Strong World, Mardock Scramble, and Redline. An all day pass can be purchased for £20.

As an update to the ReelAnime 2010 announcement, Madman’s site has been updated with screening dates and locations for Evangelion 1.0 and 2.0, King of Thorn, Summer Wars, and Redline. The site also says that the English and Japanese voice actresses of Asuka, Tiffany Grant and Yuko Miyamura, will be at the Australian premiere of Evangelion 2.0 at the Dendy Newtown in Sydney on Thursday August 5th at 6:30pm.

After announcing it 10 months ago, Madman has finally released information about their screenings of Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance in Australian theatres. The film is headlining their (almost) annual anime film festival, which will begin in September this year. King Of Thorn, Summer Wars, and Redline will also be screened during the festival. Madman has also stated that there will be limited screenings of Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone during the festival.

Evangelion 2.0 Screening in Montreal

Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance (Japanese with English subtitles) will be screening in Montreal at the Fantasia Film Festival 2010 on July 10th at 12:00 PM at the Concordia Hall Theater. The screening will be the original 2.0 on 35mm film. The Concordia Hall Theater is located on 1455 de Maisonneuve O. in Montreal. Tickets will be $8 and can be bought either at the theater, by phone, or over the internet at admission.com (French).

The Fantasia Festival is North America’s largest film festival which plays genre films from all over the world. Fantasia Film Festival 2010 will last from July 8th to July 28th and include films such as “Gintama: The Movie”, Mamoru Oshii’s 2009 short film “Je t’aime”, Katayama’s “King of Thorn” and “Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection” among the list of over 100 films to be screened during the 22 day span.
