Evangelion 3.0 International title revealed, Eva Final release date revealed

The official Evangelion website http://www.evangelion.co.jp/ was updated for New Years with new information: The International title for Evangelion Q (to be released in Fall 2012) is You Can (Not) Redo. Evangelion ? was also revealed to be released in 2013.

VIZ Adds Evangelion Manga for Weekly Digital Releases

VIZ Media, the licensor and North American publisher of Sadamoto’s Neon Genesis Evangelion Manga, will be releasing stages (chapters) of the manga in digital format on their website and manga app for iOS (iPod Touch, iPad, iPhone) for $0.99 a stage, one stage a week. The first stage, “Angel Attack”, is free as a preview and the 2nd stage, “Reunion”, is the release for this week.

VIZ has been doing digital releases on many of their manga properties since they’ve released their manga reading app for iOS last November, this is the first digital release for the Evangelion manga by VIZ. Though most of their digital releases occur monthly and by volume, Evangelion’s is weekly by stages.

The CLUH cafe in Harajuku which opened an Evangelion Gallery on July 25th, had legendary Japanese graffiti artist Cook from the CMK crew paint a mural at CLUH.

Cafe CLUH in Harajuku, a neighborhood in Tokyo often considered the fashion capital of the world, will open an Evangelion (Gallary) gallery from July 25th to September 8th. The gallery will feature Evangelion art a collaboration of different artists as well as some original production drawings from the new movies. The cafe will also have various items from Radio Eva. The first week, July 25-31, will feature artwork from “STREET ART” and the first week of August will feature works from ‘PREMIUM14″. Later sometime during the fall, a permanent Evangelion Store will open up in Harajuku.

Evangelion Exhibition in Miyabi – Pictures

Lots of pictures posted on evafan‘s Livedoor blog from the Neon Genesis Evangelion Exhibition at Shotaro Ishinomori Furusato Kinenkan museum in Miyagi Prefecture. The exhibition will run until October 23rd and features both the original TV series as well as the new theatrical edition (Rebuild).

Sadamoto’s Evangelion Manga Resumes

The August issue of Young Ace magazine contains a “Clear File” for Asuka, similar to the Rei Clear File that was included in the March issue, and looks to have news that a new stage will be in the September issue, due on sale on August 4th.

Sunday Supanova Wrap Up

The Supanova Pop Culture Expo in Sydney this weekend was apparently a record breaker, with pre-sales for the Saturday reaching over 20,000.

Supanova specializes in science fiction, Anime and manga, as well as several other things such as wrestling, with live wrestling performances appearing throughout both days. This year featured a number of special guests, but the ones we are most interested in are Yuko Miyamura, Tiffany Grant and Matt Greenfield. I attended on the Sunday, where Miyamura gave a panel and Q&A session with her translator early in the day, and Tiffany and Matt hosted a separate Q&A shortly after midday.

Miyamura was asked, and discussed many different things during her panel, including how much she enjoys living in Australia with her husband who is studying to be a ninja, how she is scared of ants (although she enjoys following their trails), and touching briefly on her soon to be born baby. When asked whether or not she knew how far along the production was for Q, she said that she didn’t know, and seiyus like herself are not often told until soon before they are needed for their voices, and then they are only told which month they will need to keep free in order for recording. Furthermore, she said that when Eva: 2.0 was being made, the production staff pushed back the start of voice recording twice because of production delays, and she surmised that the same fate is most likely to befall the production schedule of Q.

The Grant & Greenfield panel also covered many topics. When Matt was asked about the Live Action Evangelion Movie he said that the film was still in the works, at a studio, and that he was nolonger regularly involved in the process, having only worked with Wetta in order to develop the concept of the show for the pitch to the studio. He said that Joseph Chou is now involved with the project, and that he believes the studio is now shopping for a director. There was an enormous amount of cosplay at the event, but very few Evangelion characters, the clear favourite appeared to be Doctor Who.

The three talk about their experiences with Evangelion, the new movies, and the dubbing process in the U.S.

New GAINAX Anime: Dantalian no Shoka

Nothing new in the Evangelion front since the discovery that Evangelion: 3.0/Q may be further behind schedule than most anticipated as well as Hideaki Anno telling fans to “please be patient”. So there’s going to be a short update about our friends over at GAINAX.

Their new upcoming show this July Bibliotheca Mystica de Dantalian (ダンタリアンの書架) released a promotional video, giving us a first look at the series.

The premise revolves around Hugh Anthony Disward, who finds a library in the mansion he has inherited, and a girl Dalian who has access to the prohibited books of the demons. It is directed by Yutaka Uemura, who has previously worked with Mahoromatic and Gurren Lagann, and is expected to be 13 episodes. This fantasy title contrasts pretty heavily with GAINAX’s previous show, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. Here’s hoping for some upcoming news about Evangelion.

Evangelion 2.22 Screening at Anime Boston

The Anime Boston schedule has a screening for Evangelion 2.22, You Can (Not) Advance, on Saturday, April 23rd at 12:15pm in the Hynes Convention Center, Video 210 HD Room. The screening will be followed by a panel with guests of honor and English cast Spike Spencer (Shinji Ikari), Brina Palencia (Rei Ayanami), Trina Nishimura (Mari Makinami Illustrious), and J. Michael Tatum (Ryoji Kaji) at 3:00pm in room #302/304 and an autograph session in room #308 starting at 4:30pm. Evangelion: 2.22 DVD and Blu-ray Australian Release Date

Madman have finally announced the official release date for their release of Evangelion: 2.22 You Can (Not) Advance on DVD and Blu-ray.

Hideaki Anno Produces “Kantoku Shikkaku”

Studio Khara tweeted today that Hideaki Anno will co-produce a film directed by Katsuyuki Hirano called Kantoku Shikkaku with Koinobori Pictures. The film will open this September 3rd in Japan. According to Anime New Network, the film will feature the late actress Yumika Hayashi who died in 2005.

Mari’s English Dub Debut

Funimation’s blog mentions that Mari Makinami Illustrious’s English dub (Trina Nishimura) has a sneak preview on Amazon. The sneak preview is the scene where Mari and Shinji meet for the first time and is bookended by an introduction from Spike Spencer (voice actor of Shinji) and a promotion at the end. You can view the video by going to the Evangelion 2.22 page on Amazon and click on the “See 2 more images and video” under the packaging image.

Hideaki Anno’s works at Proto Anime Cut in Berlin

From January 20th to March 6th , 2011, in Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin, original drawings from several Japanese anime directors will be exhibited in the Spaces and Visions in Japanese animation as part of Proto Anime Cut. The exhibition includes art by Hideaki Anno, Haruhiko Higami, Koji Morimoto, Hiromasa Ogura, Mamoru Oshii, and Takashi Watabe. Both Koji Morimoto and Hiromasa Ogura attended the opening on the 20th. The les jardins des piloted also has some sample images. Some of these look fantastic and it’s too bad more of the art can’t be displayed on the website. There are 2 drawings of Cut 710 (from Evangelion 2.0, shown to the right), one is the layout by Takashi Watabe and the other looks to be the complete cut.
