New PSP game: Evangelion Sound Impact

Anime News Network has stated that a new Evangelion game for the PSP is in the works.

Evangelion: Sound Impact, a music-rhythm based game, will be released in Japan on September 29th and come in three different packages. The video game will feature music from the Rebuild of Evangelion (New Movie Edition) film teratology, remixed by Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka. The game is being produced by Goichi “Suda51″ Suda, director of Killer7 and No More Heroes.

The Evangelion pachislo game “Locus of the Soul” will be released for both the PSP and the DS on 6/03/2010.

(pachislo is essentially pachinko with additional slot machine components)

Evangelion Battle Orchestra comes to PSP (Update)

Evangelion Battle Orchestra, a game by BROCCOLI, originally released on the PS2, will now have a PSP release on July 30th. It looks to be mostly similar to the PS2 version with character story modes and multiplayer battle royale using the PSP’s wireless network. (Previous Battle Orchestra PSP Post)

A promotional video appeared today on the official website which seems to indicate that the PSP version has a new character not found on the PS2 version (Lilith). The limited edition of the game will cost 7,140円 and the standard edition will cost 5,040円, both with tax included. The Limited Edition includes a hardcase for your PSP, postcards and stickers.

The Misato Katsuragi News Project (PS3)

Kotaku.com mentions that the Blu-Ray release of Evangelion 1.11 includes an advertisement for a new Evangelion game, coming to the PS3. The developer is stated to be Bandai-Namco as well as Cellius Inc. More information will be posted as it becomes available.

EDIT: According to member Lleonard Pler’s findings on the Vandel.net forums, this release titled The Misato Katsuragi News Project isn’t a game at all, but a monthly News Reader (of course, there’s a fee) featuring Misato. The service will be available June 6th from the Playstation store.

Yet another Evangelion game is coming to the Sony Play Station portable. This time it’s the fighting game Neon Genesis Evangelion Battle Orchestra. The game’s release date will be July 30th 2009. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

UPDATE: Upon closer inspection of the flash footage on the official website, the Evangelions will have their Rebuild of Evangelion getups. Thanks to member Reichu for noticing this in the linked forum thread.

Girlfriend of Steel 2 to be released on Sony PSP

As mentioned back in February, the game Girlfriend of Steel Special Edition will b e released on the Play Station Portable April 9 2009. Now it’s sequel in spirit, Girlfriend of Steel 2 (the game that takes place in the Alternate Universe seen in Episode 26) is also getting released for the PSP. It’s release date is set for June 11, 2009.

The game will have a limited edition release including extras just like GoS Special Edition did. This time around, the extras are the opposite of the first game: An original commuter pass of Asuka and an original key chain of Rei. PSP games are region-free, meaning they play in any PSP unit if you import the game. PSP videos (UMD videos) however play only for the region your unit is from.

New Eva game based on Rebuild

A new Evangelion game based on Rebuild is mentioned in Weekly Famitsu magazine. The release date for Evangelion: Prologue (Jo) is June 4th 2009 and it will be ported for the PS2 and PSP (PSP games are region-free). The company releasing it is Bandai Namco Games, who also released Evangelion 2. The game seems to incorporate things from the series and Rebuild: for instance, Ramiel’s appearance is the same as in 1.0, yet both Asuka and Kaworu seem to be present in the game.

There are at least two scenarios in the game, one based on the Television series and the other based on Evangelion: Jo. Because of this, Asuka for instance will supposedly be called Soryu in the TV series Scenario and Shikinami in the Evangelion 1.0 Scenario, although the official site refers to her as Soryu.The game’s graphics are more detailed than Evangelion 2 and the battles in this game are in full-3D.

According to this Japanese Amazon.com page , the Special Edition version of Girlfriend of Steel (the game with Mana) will be released on April 9 2009 on the Sony Playstation Portable. The link is for the Limited Edition release, but a regular edition of the game will also be released. Whether or not Girlfriend of Steel 2 (the game and later manga that takes place in the alternate universe from Episode 26) will follow suite for a PSP release is unknown at this point. Also, for those who don’t know: PSP games are region-free, meaning they play in any PSP unit if you import the game. PSP videos (UMD videos) however play only for the region your unit is from.
