New Kotobukiya Kaworu and Mark 6 Figure

Good news for all you Kaworu fan boys and girls out there, Kotobukiya is adding to their 1/6 scale Pilot+Eva series with a Kaworu, the first male pilot to appear. Kaworu is wearing his redesigned Rebuild plugsuit, and sits atop a stone bust of the Mark 6 Evangelion, which appears in Evangelion 2.0: You Can (not) Advance.

The series so far has included Rei atop Unit-00, Asuka atop Unit-02, and Mari wearing her pink plugsuit atop Beast mode Unit-02. There has also been a 1/6 scale Misato released, but it is unclear whether or not this figure is included in the same series.

The Kaworu figure is set for release in October this year, and will retail for approximately ¥6,800.

Evangelion Evolution Revoltech Mark 6

At the Evastore Evangelion Evolution page, there’s a section at the bottom showing a prototype version of Evangelion Mark 6, the Eva Unit that Kaworu used at the end of the Evangelion 2.0 movie. It will have a release date somewhere during the summer of 2011. Ironically, these images may give us a better glimpse into what Mark 6 looks like in general than what we saw at the end of 2.0 and the 3.0 preview.

Asuka Langley Soryu by Yamato

This Asuka figure (note: labeled as “Soryu” and not “Shikinami”) from Yamato Toys caught my attention today. This 25cm tall figure created by Yoshizawa Mitsumasa and Shunya Yamashita depicts an older looking Asuka. The original resin version of this was sold for 11,000 yen at this year’s Wonder Festival (winter), but a PVC version was released by Creator’s Labo is supposed to be released on the 13th and a bunch of pictures of it have popped up on the internet.

I’m sure the original resin is much nicer, but I still think this figure is kind of nice eventhough I don’t really collect figures. It’s a cheaper, too, 7,680 yen at Akihabara or 7,416 yen on Amazon.

November 2010 Young Ace with Mari Figure

The November 2010 issue of Young Ace (Kadokawa Shoten) includes a new Mari Makinami Illustrious (ver. 2) “Special Appendix” figure. The figure was announced back in the April 2010 issue and some adverts included it with the August 2010 issue, which for some reason didn’t pan out. Instead it was bundled with the just released November 2010 issue. Similar to previous “Special Appendix” Kaiyodo Evangelion figures, they’re pretty small and kind of cheaply made, but you can’t expect much when it’s bundled with an $8 magazine (658 yen without tax). It’s limited so if you want one, ask your importer or go to your favorite online store (if you’re not in Japan). There has previously been a “Special Appendix” figure of Rei, Asuka, and Mari (thus the “ver. 2″).

Evangelion at Kotobukiya Booth, Wonder Festival 2010

Day 2 of Tokyo’s Wonder Festival 2010 brings some pictures of the Kotobukiya Booth‘s Evangelion related items. They had the Asuka, Rei, and Mari “Rebuild” statues that were also seen at the Kotobukiya booth at Wonder Festival last year along with a new Asuka statue of her in the “Test” plugsuit. However, probably the most interesting item is a set of Entry Plug Chopsticks that open up on the end to expose a tiny pilot inside. There are Asuka, Shinji, Rei, and Mari versions of these chopsticks. The expected release for these chopsticks are December and will sell for around 1260円.

The 2010 Wonder Festival, an annual event to showcase and sell garage kit models among other things, started in Tokyo today. As to be expected, there were many Evangelion related items, including a rhinestone covered Evangelion Unit-01 head (pictured to the right). Another neat looking item is an Evangelion Unit-01 based on the design from ANIMA:

New UCC Coffee designs and figures

To commemorate the release of Evangelion 2.22 on DVD and BluRay, UCC canned coffee is going to release new coffee designs and a set of figures of Asuka, Rei, and Mari on April 27th.

Evangelion 2.0 Asuka/Entry Plug Figure

Similar to the Shinji Ikari and Rei Ayanami Entry Plug figures, Evangelion 2.0 brings the 3rd one in the set featuring Asuka produced by Skynet. Like the previous Entry Plug figures, the plug can be opened and closed and lit internally via LEDs (white or LCL orange light) with a posed PVC Asuka. The Entry Plug is about 50cm long and comes with an AT-Field styled pedestal. The release date is June 2010 and will cost 8,800円.

Rebuild RAHs – Mari Makinami

Toy company Medicom displayed their new Rebuild figure in the “Real Action Heroes” line, which includes Rei, Shinji, Asuka, and Kaworu. As expected, the next in line is none other than the new character Mari Illustrious Makinami. A few photos of this figure was taken at the Miyazawa Model Show. No information about the release is known at this time.

Rebuild RAHs – Kaworu Nagisa

Our previous posts about Medicom’s “Real Action Heroes” Shinji, Rei and Asuka will now be joined with a Kaworu Nagisa in his Evangelion 2.0 plugsuit. Like the other figures in the RAH line, it stands about 30cm tall, has moveable joints underneath the plugsuit and will retail for 17,640 yen. Expected release is April of 2010.

Rebuild 2.0′s Evangelion Unit-01 Revoltech

First seen at the 2009 Wonder Festival, the Eva-01 Revoltech figure is going on sale on October ~~15th~~ 1st for 2400 yen. This figure was tentatively named “Runaway Version” at the Wonder Festival. Along with the Eva-01 figure, the Eva-05 figure, which has been repainted, will also be on sale on the ~~15th~~ 1st.

This post will contain Evangelion 2.0 spoilers, so people avoiding spoilers don’t click on the “Read More” link if you are avoiding spoilers.

The final version of this figure appeared on the Minnano Eva Fan blog today and it includes parts to turn it into the “Awakened” form. The extra parts include a halo, an extra head (one that is roaring), a face attachment that makes it look like it’s eyes are glowing (although it looks more like fancy sunglasses), an extra arm and hands to give Eva-01 the glowing left arm, and a rifle and umbilical cable.

Young Ace Vol 2 with an Asuka Figure

The second volume of the anime/manga magazine Young Ace features a plugsuit clad Asuka on the cover was released yesterday. Just like with the first volume, which featured Rei on the cover, this volume includes a Kaiyodo figure. The first volume hit and left the shelves pretty quickly, and with Asuka on the cover of this one, it’ll probably sell out even quicker. For people who don’t live in Japan, you can always grab a copy from Amazon or your local importer.

Evangelion Figures at Wonder Festival 2009

The Tokyo Wonder Festival 2009, an annual event to showcase and sell garage kit models, had lots of nice Evangelion related goods this year. Gainax had their obligatory booth which included a “geek room” and sold some custom cells.

A lot of other very talented artisans also displayed various Evangelion garage kit figures and models, including the set of Rei Ayanami figures on “Eva” motorbikes seen on the right. These would be nice to own, but unfortunately will be hard to get a hold of if you didn’t attend the event or don’t have a lot of money to spend. Among the custom figures are some that will be available in a larger production run, like the Rebuild Asuka Figure and various Revoltech figures. Warning, some of these pictures may contain Evangelion 2.0 spoilers, so don’t click on the “Read More” unless you don’t mind being slighly spoiled.
